In the middle of the last century, Caregivers were, to some extent, idealized in our lives, and more dramatically, within our culture.  From Ozzie and Harriett to Marcus Welby to It’s a Wonderful Life to Going My Way, institutional Caregivers were sentimentalized and celebrated in film and television, be they in the form of parents, family doctors, small town bankers or clergymen...

The Explorer Archetype has been the driver of many great brands, from Jeep to Patagonia. 

But often its deepest meaning is revealed in less obvious places than the open road or wild, undiscovered places.  For example, our long partnership with the Public Broadcasting Service helped them more fully realize and lay claim to the fact that PBS provides a fabulous, virtually universally available portal to exploration and discovery – of new ideas, different ways of thinking and being, and an almost-infinite range of experiences that might not otherwise be accessible.

Most Americans value the proposition that there is a unique form of American ingenuity and creativity that has been the envy of the world.  But perhaps not all Americans appreciate the role that diversity has played in our history of innovation, and how critical a role difference and variation play in the realization of the Creator Archetype.
